When I decided to become a freelancer I had no idea how to do it. Unfortunately, the schools I attended didn't teach the skills of an independent animator. The goal was to get a contract at a studio and just keep going that path. This became impossible for me after I got sick with a neurological disorder. A regular 9-5 schedule didn't fit my needs, and I knew that studios were not interested in someone who needs a two-hour break after an hour of work.
Freelancing allowed me to continue and keep advancing my career as an animator.
