But lets not jump ahead of ourselves. Taking a step back, HTTP is based on the client/server model, which pretty much means its made up of a computer receiving some information and a computer that is sending information.

But in 2015 a second major version of HTTP was derived (as you will learn in this class, it was derived from the earlier expental SPDY protocol).

What's cool about HTTP/2 is that you can send multiple requests for data in parallel over a single TCP connection. This is HUGE, because most modern browsers limit TCP connections to one server. And less round trips means that a web page will load faster.

This class is not about the detailed inner workings of HTTP/2, but it will give you a high level understanding of what it does and, at the very least, a desire to switch your site over to HTTP/2.

Important: for the protocol to work, the client and server must support it. Today, all popular browsers already support HTTP/2 technology. And this is great news for you and I, because in order for your site to load via this protocol, no special changes need to be made.
